Champion is a melancholy little boy adopted by his grandmother, Madame Souza. Noticing his passion for cycling, Madame Souza puts Champion through a rigorous training program. Years pass. Champion has become an ace of the bicycle, so much so that he finds himself a rider in the famous Tour de France. But during the race, he is kidnapped by two mysterious men in black. Madame Souza and her dog Bruno then set off in search of him. Their quest takes them across the ocean to a megalopolis called Belleville, where they meet the “Belleville Sisters”, eccentric music hall stars from the 1930s who decide to help Madame Souza and Bruno find Champion.
